Quirks of Our 3 Offices

  • At Superbolt, we have the privilege of having offices in 3 inspiring cities: New York, Los Angeles, and Paris. And just like how these cities each possess their own quirks and idiosyncrasies, so do our 3 offices. So what’s it like to work in each location? All share the Superbolt’s universal culture, with their own added local flair.

  • How We Commute

Like true New Yorkers, our NYC team is well adapted to all forms of public transport. The majority of members enjoy a short commute to our FiDi office via subway, PATH, or bus—as well as via healthy (and free!) options like biking, walking, and scooting! Like NYC, the Paris équipe benefits from the well established Paris Metro. Most of the team commutes to our office at 9th arrondissement from within the local confines of the city (think Quartier de Sainte-Ambroise, Le Marais, and Trocadéro) and travel times are relatively short.

But of course, our Los Angeles team commutes a little differently. Located in Culver City, our LA office has a unique positioning. On one hand, it’s quite accessible for the beach-city and south bay dwellers. On the other hand, it’s also a reasonable commute away for the downtown area and valley folks. Though public transit isn’t a popular option in LA, the strategically placed central location of our office provides a relatively smooth commute on the 10 or 405.

    Coffee vs. Tea

"In Paris, coffee is more than an institution, it's an art de vivre ! There's a cup of coffee for every mood: at work with your colleagues, on the weekend with friends at a terrace enjoying the sun (when it's too early for white wine), and, of course, the mandatory coffee that goes with your croissant in the morning !" - Mégane, Paris Office

Caffeine gets us out of the bed in the morning and is a driving force towards our productivity. No matter where you turn, a cup of something is always on each person’s desk. Whether it be from the many ground bean varieties at our NYC office, or an espresso from a local Parisian café, we are super passionate about getting our caffeine on!

Although coffee drinkers are the clear majority, we’ve got some passionate tea drinkers as well. In LA and NYC, there are even strong debates among the numerous bubble tea (or “boba” as preferred by the LA folks) shops nearby each office! It offers great debate opportunities during our watercooler chats.

  • “Aside from carbs, LA has better food than NY. Don’t fight me—just come try it yourself! ;) ” - Peiying, LA Office

    Foodie culture

Our Slack channel dedicated to food explains it all. By all accounts, we can agree that the pandemic forced us to explore our creativity in the kitchen. But now that our offices are open again, we’re flocking back to our favorite local spots! Whether it’s the local NYC grab-and-go pizza, a fresh croissant from a Parisian patisserie, or salad from the numerous options along Venice Blvd—food feeds our soul, creates conversations, and bonds us together.

  • “It was so fun to all run in a race together! The head of data lapped me but still glad to have finished at all!! My favorite part was noticing NYPD runners ahead of me and trying to beat them!” - Jake, NYC Office

    We stay active

Physical activity helps keep us grounded (and healthy). The beauty of it is that we’re our own competitors and seek to challenge ourselves. Our team is no stranger to testing the upper limits of our own physical capabilities. In our earlier days, a few team members from the NYC office participated in a half marathon! Our resident running expert Hernan helped prepare and build a training module to follow in the weeks ahead of the race. It wasn’t that we were competing with each other, but rather an opportunity to bond and build each other up. The return of in-person events allows us to participate in local races, as well as mud runs like Spartan and Tough Mudder. We’re not past olympians or elite professionals, but we love to push our limits outside the office.
